A successful SMBE symposium on “Regulatory evolution and the emergence of diversity”
Carmelo has co-organised the symposium on “Regulatory evolution and the emergence of diversity” at the last Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution conference (see list of symposia on the conference website). The symposium focused on topics such as gene regulation, short RNAs, and gene co-expression and has been very successful in terms of both number of contributions and attendance.
Carmelo has organised it together with long-term collaborators and friends Paolo Franchini (University of Tuscia) and Francesca Raffini (Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn).
The meeting was held last week (July 23rd-27th) in Ferrara, and this specific symposium was held on the afternoon of July 25th. In addition to a packed main room where the speakers were presenting, more people were attending at “streaming rooms” available at the conference venues, as well as online (this was a hybrid conference).
