New Molecular Ecology paper on bumblebees

4 Oct 2023

Carmelo has co-authored a new paper focusing on bumblebees (Bombus spp.) from the UK.

The paper is open access and currently available as “Early view” in the journal Molecular Ecology. The study deals with various aspects of genetic diversity and divergence, in light of the use of these bees as pollinators and of the introduction of non-native species to the UK. One surprising result is the evidence of limited introgression of non-native bumblebees into native bumblebees. Genetic data has been obtained genome-wide using genome reduction techniques (RADseq).
